Today Kelsey and Iris were at the Portland Flower Show. The theme this year is Timeless Gardens.  The show was in full bloom with beautiful flowers! A perfect venue to wear a wonderful hat! Don’t forget, gardening season is just around the corner and we have hats for gardeners.

Come out for the Labor Day weekend festivities to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the Town of Sherman at the Annual Old Home Days. Bring friends and family for a fun weekend for everyone! 

The Red House Tea for ladies of all ages will be on Saturday, September 1st from 2-4 pm.  All are welcome! Don your favorite hat for an elegant afternoon of tea sandwiches and baked goodies, while viewing a hat fashion show hosted by Queen of Hats in Portland, Maine.

There’s a lot of activities throughout the weekend, including a parade on Monday which goes around the park twice!

Experience a fashion show depicting the stages of Domestic Violence with models wearing hats provided by Queen of Hats, clothed in fashions by Simply You, with hair and makeup by CoCo Cheveux.

Enjoy a silent auction, great food, giveaways, and contemporary performance by the Dance Studio of Maine. Support this cause in the company of friends and family. Proceeds go to Sexual Assault Response Services of Southern Maine (SARRSM) and Family Crisis Services (FCC).

Miss Maine, Julia Furtado was recently honored in Birmingham, Alabama for receiving the Duke of Edinburgh Award at the Miss America pageant. The award was recognition for her work in the areas of a special talent, physical fitness, community service and an adventurous journey (environment and teamwork). Several other Miss America contestants also attended and were also honored in different levels of participation.

A high tea garden party was held for those receiving awards. In attendance was His Royal Highness Prince Edward, the Governor and Mayor of Alabama and other dignitaries and donors to the Duke of Edinburgh award. Miss Maine performed an operatic piece “O Mio Babbino Caro” by Giacomo Puccini.

Queen of Hats designed  Miss Maine’s hat for the Gala.  We are proud of Julia Furtado for her accomplishments and the dignified manner in which she represents the Miss Maine organization and the State of Maine.

Partners for World Health  is a non-profit organization based in Scarborough, Maine that collects and distributes discarded yet usable medical supplies, reduces envrionmental waste, provides primary care services to developing countries and educates people about global health. Local designers showcased their blue wrap creations and their incredible talent with their unique designs for the fashion show.
